News just in. Companies LOVE Notion and are moving to it in droves (I haven’t had to do outbound sales as a Notion consultant - we’re in demanddd, baby) and more importantly, they’re actively looking for people who are good at Notion.
So if you fancy yourself as a bit of a ‘Notion wiz’, 200% put it on your resume.
Even if the job isn’t advertising for Notion skills, chances are they could be considering moving to it and NEED someone with your skillset. Yes, this works. I literally got my last job as a senior project manager by sharing my Notion portfolio (template downloadable here, you’re welcome) with my old Shopify Plus agency and they were hooked.

David, Product Marketing Manager at Notion, released a list of everything Notion has ‘shipped’ in 2022.
This was last week and since then, Notion has already dropped more gems: setting links to open in desktop by default, resizing link views, editable list views , copying content from database views.
And you know what, this isn’t everything! There are so many micro-changes in the UI (like the new calendar icon - chef’s kiss) that only a Notion nerd like me who doesn’t spend enough time outside would notice. Not mentioning all the off-app community changes this year
Dear Notion Team - thank you! We can’t wait for 2023 (but maybe slow down a tiny bit on the releases, so we’re not losing our breath like Destiny’s child trying to keep up)

I like this because, yeah, people always think ‘Notion will be the answer to their problems’ and that once they build a Notion dashboard suddenly they’ll become some kind of productivity genius overnight. Couldn’t be more wrong
Biggest mistakes my clients make when building Notion workspaces?
a) Starting out way too complex and being overoptimistic about what you’ll actually be bothered to update.
My rule - be honest with yourself. If it’s part of your workflow and you will realistically be too lazy to update it - don’t build it. It’ll just be another annoying checkbox to check, or tag to update that will eventually make you hate your workflow.
b) Not understanding what your workflow is before setting up your workspace.
An architect doesn’t build a house without a blueprint and understanding how the space would be used, so wth would you do that with your Notion workspace?
Defining what you actually need from your workspace and where it needs to connect is your best chance at avoiding the dreaded *insert gulp* spaghetti workspace (my job is literally untangling these and let’s say it’s not for the faint of heart).
Speaking of blueprints, I literally have a methodology called The Notion Blueprint which I’ve soft-launched with a few of my clients that’s been a great solid framework for this, but we’ll get into that more next year x
TLDR: build lean, build intentional. The aim is to be productive SO your life isn’t spent doing admin.

There is something so relaxing about watching someone go about their day doing their workflow. The success of the video above is a great example of just how much people are resonating with this content!

🎶 Album that's (still) 90% of my personality: I don’t know what Miss Bey put in Renaissance, but here we are. Nearly 6 months later. Listening to it on loop.
It’s now my ‘default album’ i.e. I can comfortably use it to motivate me through a work sesh without it distracting me too much. Just like your favourite blanket, sweatshirt or go-to hot beverage of choice, Renaissance fades into the background of whatever flow you’re part in, but also becomes a part of it at the same time - art. You feel comforted that it’s there (it’s 100% part of how you’re getting through whatever dreaded task you’re doing) BUT you don’t actually have to pay attention to it too much. Instead of being a distraction, it becomes a PART OF YOU, eternally, on loop.
